One Job Ends and Two Others Begin!
Last month I finished up my internship with the Extension studying entrepreneurship. I sure am going to miss working on the Business Outreach Support Services material and working with wonderful people (thank you Marion, Trudy, and Cindy). I feel very fortunate and blessed that I could spend the past year working on such a fun and rewarding internship.
While this job has now ended, I have been excited to start up two new endeavors. Last month I became a Mary Kay Consultant. I am so excited about this. I was introduced to Mary Kay products when I started doing pageants and I love their makeup line! I can't wait to start doing classes, parties, and facials. This is going to be fun.
I have also started my new internship. This internship is such a good fit for me and the things that I love. I know that I will learn a ton as I work with the 4-H youth program and Family Consumer Science classes. So far my favorite thing has been working with the other interns to put on cooking classes. It has been really fun and I work with some great people.
So far this summer has been awesome!

Croquet on the Quad
To celebrate the first day of our summer, Michelle, Stephanie, and I decided to have a party on the quad by playing a few games of croquet. Although Michelle and I could never beat Stephanie at any of the croquet games we played (Stephanie is pro), we had quite the time! We have so much fun together. I love these girls!

Summer and Spring
I can't wait until warm weather arrives and decides to stay a while! With school ending this week I am surprised to say I haven't even had the chance to wear a pair of shorts or capris to school. Although the weather isn't perfect yet (80 degrees is my type of weather) I do love this time of year, and I am so excited for my summer to begin!
The other day I was going through my file cabinet and came upon a poem that I wrote in 9th grade. As I've been thinking about springtime and Mother's Day I've decided this is something I wanted to share on my blog.
MOTHER BIRD
By Erica Nelson
ONE APRIL SPRING DAY OUT IN THE YARD,
A MAGICAL MOMENT OCCURRED.
OUT AGAINST THE NEIGHBOR'S WOOD FENCE
RESTED A NEST AND A HOME OF A BIRD.
WHEN I TOOK A CLOSER LOOK,
I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE,
LITTLE BLUE SPECKLED ROBIN EGGS
HATCHING RIGHT BEFORE ME.
ONE OF THE EGGS HAD A LITTLE BEAK
TRYING TO BREAK ITSELF OUT.
WHILE A FEATHERLESS BIRD THAT HAD ALREADY HATCHED
WAS MOVING ALL ABOUT.
I STOOD FOR A WHILE OBSERVING ALL I COULD.
THEN I LOOKED FOR THE MOTHER BIRD.
DOWN ON A FENCE POST
THERE SHE STOOD.
TALL AND BRAVE WAS THE MOTHER
WITH HER BOLD CHEST OF ORANGE THERE.
SHE KNEW SHE HAD SOME BABY BIRDS
FOR WHICH SHE WOULD TAKE CARE.
I LOVE THE NATURE THAT I SAW
I KNOW I WILL NEVER FORGET,
THE DAY I SAW SOME BABY BIRDS
HATCHING IN THAT NEST.
I still remember the day I saw this all take place. I remember that mother bird and how she guarded and carefully watched those birds. That day has made an impact on me as I've thought of my own mother and the great care that she has given to me. I love my mom so much and I hope that as this Mother's Day and always I can show her how much she means to me. I love ya mom!
Here are a few pictures of our Easter and Easter Egg Hunt in the back field. It was so fun to be able to celebrate and spend time with family on this special day. I feel very blessed to have the gospel in my life. I am also very grateful that I have such a great family! I love them all so much!

4-H 4-Real!
I just got one of my dream jobs!!! This past month I got an email sharing the good news that I was selected for another internship working with the Extension. This time I'll be working with the County Extension Office with the 4-H. I am so excited about this opportunity! I've wanted this job for quite some time. I feel very happy and blessed this opportunity came my way. This summer and fall is sure going to be busy and full of hard work, but I know that it will be a fun and worthwhile experience as well!
